Be Warned of latest group from Korea entering Malaysia

I was asked about a so-called 'mission' group known as InterCP International from Korea.

A friend of a fellow OCFer has a daughter who is supposed to join a short trip with a “mission” group. The father wanted to know more about this organisation, and started enquiring about it more.

I thought this was the Mission Frontiers that I had known back in Australia.  Even the title of the brochure used words that were similar to the organisation.

However, something prompted me to take a look at the organisation's website again. I made enquiries with a number of people,  but no one appears to know anything about this organisation which has set its base in Malaysia, until a missionary friend of mine responded. She said she would check with a Korean missionary counterpart of hers.

This is his advice. I have modified the names of the people in the chat to protect their identity. Marilyn James is my friend while Richard Richardson is a Korean. Read to find out more about this group:

[6/26, 3:40 PM] Marilyn James: So you know about this organization? Our friend is asking

[6/26, 3:55 PM] Richard Richardson: This one is well known among Korean church as a mission group of unhealthy theology and missiology.

[6/26, 3:56 PM] Marilyn James: Thanks for info.

[6/26, 3:56 PM] Marilyn James: I'm very concerned about them keeping people's passport and money

[6/26, 3:57 PM] Richard Richardson: That's their way of mission trip and is very strict restrictions

[6/26, 3:58 PM] Marilyn James: So you know what are some of their Unhealthy theology and missiology?

[6/26, 3:59 PM] Richard Richardson: Some denomination s of Korea consider that is heretical org.

[6/26, 4:00 PM] Marilyn James: Not much can be detected in their organization info page..

[6/26, 4:00 PM] Richard Richardson: They don't engage with local church principles of mission because their own principles are not allowed to be with others

[6/26, 4:00 PM] Marilyn James: I see

[6/26, 4:10 PM]  Richard Richardson: Historical theology is also way far from main denominations' perspective

[6/26, 4:11 PM]  Richard Richardson: So sorry to hear that the daughter of your friend is envoled with this

******************************

The girl was allowed to bring US$400 maximum along with her. However, both the money and the passport would be kept in custody by the leader of the team. They are also not allowed to bring along a handphone.

While I can understand the reasons for it, this did raise the red flag for me to probe further into it. Upon writing this, I may check with a Korean friend of mine, and may arrange a Zoom session to find out more.

UPDATE: THIS IS MY FRIEND'S REPLY. HE IS A LECTURER IN A THEOLOGICAL SCHOOL
