RELIGION FOR POLITICAL ADVANTAGE IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA?

 


The recent presidential election in the United States of America is an obvious case where religion has become the horse that people ride on when they have a personal goal to achieve. 

        There are some who use religion to justify their support of Trump, or vice versa. There are others who use the presidential election to build their own fanbase by predicting that Trump would win the election. 

        Whoever wins the presidential election is really not important to me. While I find it hard to understand why anyone would think Trump's character reflects Christ in him, a number of things Trump has done is what the Christian community in America have wanted to see. I won't be surprise that Mr Trump has also introduced policies that are not consistent with the Christian faith. 

         I cannot help it but give my answer when someone asked me, "What is your opinion of the videos of US pastors calling for prayers for Trump because of witchcraft against him and he is the champion of Christinity and Israel?" 

        My answer was simple: "A lot of people are using religion for their own  agenda -- some to achieve their political aspirations (their preference of the president) and others to build their fan base.

        "Because the presidential election has such a big following worldwide, these so-called New Apostolic Reformation preachers -- some even calling themselves prophets -- love to hype it further up with their own predictions that Trump would win the election. Most of them would leave it vague so that they could still manouvre themselves around should Trump lose to Biden." 

        I added another very important point which I hope she takes into serious consideration: "Whether it is Trump or Biden, no one can stop God's blueprint from being executed. God has used Nebuchadnezzar to destroy the city of Jerusalem, and God also can use Nehemiah to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem." 

        In Malaysia, we are no difference. We want a certain political candidate to win the general election. We use all means to influence others towards our own choice; however, is this really God's will? 

        Work hard if you may to help your political candidate to win. Pray hard if you and seek the Lord on behalf of your man for the job. However, trust that nothing can happen with God allowing it. He is still in control. 

        To me, I believe God has confounded these false prophets and revealed their true characters so that the believers who have been deceived by these `wolves-in- sheep's clothing' will now return to Him and Him alone. The original video was uploaded with the title "Evangelicals Freak Out" but I think the word, 'evangelicals' is a misnomer. These are freaks and near-breakdown cases. A big contrast to the movement of the Holy Spirit in the early church.

HOW RIDICULOUS CAN THIS FALSE PROPHET STRETCH THE SCRIPTURES?

False prophet, Sadhu Sundar Selvaraj is spewing out all sorts of theological rubbish and sadly, people are gullible to follow after him.      As our Lord warned us that in the last days, there will be many of such false prophets who will deceive even the elect, we ought to be more careful.      In this video, the false prophet from India made the following bizarre claims that:  (1) The Lord told him why his 22-year-old associate was called home. DOING CHURCH AND SEMINARY DIFFERENTLY IN 21st CENTURY

29 March 2020 It was just in December 2019 that I wrote on my blog urging seminaries to go on the digital platform to reach a wider audience, especially countries where training of lay leaders is still very lacking or where it is too expensive to set up a seminary. BE CAUTIOUS LEST WE BE FOUND SPEAKING FALSE PROPHECIES

  We have to be extra cautious not to turn our own New Year well wishes into a prophecy lest we be found to be giving false prophecies (see video).           I believe God has also used the US presidential election to confound many so-called popular "prophets" and "apostles" who claimed that Donald Trump would become a second-term president. Flawed and false teachings are spreading fast

  In recent years, we have seen an increase in all kinds of flawed and some even blatantly  false teachings that pastors have no choice but to find ways to warn, educate and protect their flocks against these ravenous wolves.           It is not enough these days to just have a good Sunday sermon; even more important is both Word-based and proper theological grounding for your flock, and making sure that they are fully aware of the various kinds of false teachings these days. WHAT ABOUT THE GIFT OF PROPHECY?

  There have been many debates in the social media whether Trump or Biden should win in the presidential election. That is because a lot of people have been listening to false prophets who claim that they heard the Lord telling them that Trump would serve the next term.          Whether Trump or Biden will be the president of the United States of America is really none of my business. As God has even used Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar or even the Persian King Cyrus, there is no reason why God cannot use both of them to fulfill His blueprint which even Satan will never be able to guess or know.           What I am more interested is: "What does God say in His Word?" What is the role of the prophets both in the Old Testament and the present era? Are there still prophets today?
