Churches help revive the church economy
Here are some ideas for churches, too, if you want to contribute to nation building. More ideas will be shared here and in this other blog post: https://come-to-senses.blogspot.com/2022/11/suggestions-for-new-cabinet.html.
(1) Help the Retirees: Times are challenging. Retirees need job, young people need to focus on re-building the country's economy. Get your church deacon to look into recruiting members of the church who have no jobs and can provide transport services to pick up children from all the enrichment centres. Make sure that your church has screened through the individuals before recommending them. Have them charge a reasonable amount as most parents are also struggling to pay for their children's services.
(2) Set up Second Hand Sales. Books and other secondhand items can be useful these days, but the church should make it a regular effort to allow people to buy and sell their second hand products after church service.
(3) Drop in Centre for Kids. Allow your church to be used as Drop in Centres for kids after school. Provide tuition for these kids. Have parents pay for it. Hire your church retirees, especially the good teachers to provide these services. After all, your church building is underutilised during the weekdays. Church buildings can also be used a community centre for people to meet their friends over a pot of Chinese tea or teh tarik, or have a game of chess together. Hire your retirees. You are providing a wonderful service to your community as well as utilising your building to the fullest.
(4) Seminaries. You have great facilities, but please work with some good Christian tour agents who can whip up the logistics to make it possible for you to attract people from overseas to use your facilities. Let me know if you are interested to get some Christian tour agents. Hire some retirees or seminary students to help as hosts or even part time chaperons.
(5) Network and Stop Working in Silos. Pastors should set up a church committee who can network with other churches to whip up outreach events using their facilities to benefit the community. For example, what's wrong to organise small events like, "How to set up a business for Small Timers?" Teach them integrity and business skills.
